Malas have been used for centuries in mediation & spiritual practice but you don�t have to be religious to enjoy them. With increased awareness of mindfulness, malas are becoming more common. They can be used for meditation, as a reminder of intention or simply enjoyed as a stunning piece of jewellery. The Mala necklace has 108 beads, with the Zen Mala breaking these up into 5 sections of 7, 14, 66, 14, & 7 beads around the necklace. Each section is divided by a Marker bead (usually different to the mala beads), and finished with a Guru bead or tassel. This Zen Mala is made from multicoloured, natural Aquamarines individually hand-knotted on silk thread, with Rose Quartz marker beads, a large Aquamarine Guru bead and silk thread tassel.
