Diamonds are an April Baby's best friend

“Diamonds are a girl’s best friend!”. I’m not going to argue with that but diamonds are so much more.

Diamonds are formed under high pressure and temperature, deep within the Earth's mantle. Created long before the dinosaurs roamed Earth, some diamonds are even older than the stars. Diamond is the only gemstone made from a single element, carbon, and it is the hardest natural substance, commonly used in tools to cut other materials.

The largest rough diamond is the historic Cullinan diamond, found in South Africa in 1905. It weighed an whopping 3,106ct and was cut into a total of 105 diamonds, including the Great Star of Africa (530.20ct) and the Lesser Star of Africa (317.40ct), both of which are set within the Crown Jewels.

Highly prized for their beauty, brilliance and durability, diamonds have become a symbol of love, wealth and luxury. Following the highly successful 1947 De Beers advertising campaign declaring that ‘A diamond is forever’, the gift of a diamond engagement ring soared from 10% in the 1940s to 80% in the 1990s.

The birthstone for April, diamonds symbolize strength, purity and everlasting love. They are believed to bring clarity of thought and enhance inner strength.

Diamond jewellery however is still beyond the budget of most of us so unfortunately you will not find any diamond jewellery on my website. If you want to treat an April baby, White Topaz offers a more affordable alternative. Still noted for its clarity and sparkle, White Topaz is associated with purity, new beginnings, and mental clarity. It is believed to bring peace, creativity, and inner strength to the wearer.
