Whittle Wire

About Me & My Handcrafted Wire Work

Whittle Wire was established in 2019 as an outlet for my lifelong love of jewellery, and to spread the feeling of joy it gives you when you wear it. As a young child, I would raid my mum’s jewellery box and was often seen wearing many layers of necklaces and bangles. As a young teenager, I made jewellery for myself, family and friends; some pieces I still own today although fashions have changed a bit over the years. After nearly 20 years in science, first as a research scientist and then as a safety manager in a research laboratory, I decided on a career break and took up jewellery making once more, this time concentrating on working with wire.

After walking my gorgeous pooch, I now spend most of my day designing and creating. My dog keeps me company in my crafting studio (aka the spare bedroom) in Cambridgeshire. Occasionally, he will fuss and nudge to remind me its dinner time, but on the whole he’s a very good crafting companion.

All the pieces I sell are handmade by me and therefore mostly unique.  There may be differences in the colour of gemstone, combination of beads or just a twist and turn of the wire in a slightly different direction. No two pieces are identical. Whatever the variation, it does mean that your Whittle Wire piece will be truly individual.

So, if you are looking for a gift for a birthday, anniversary or special occasion, or even if you just want to treat yourself, you will find it here at Whittle Wire. Did you know for example that traditionally copper is a present for a 7th wedding anniversary, or that each month has a corresponding birthstone? Take a look and you might just find something to make someone’s day.
